Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?

We suggest that you wear comfortable, quick-drying clothing, soft-soled shoes or river sandals (not flip-flops), a hat, sunglasses with a leash and sunscreen. During cool weather cotton or other natural fibers will get wet and make you cold, man made fibers dry more quickly and will keep you warm.

What can I bring?

For full or half day whitewater rafting trips you can bring small personal items, a waterproof, disposable camera and dry clothing for after the trip. You may also bring adult beverages. We will transfer these drinks into our coolers but ask that you do not bring glass containers. We will provide dry bag storage on each trip. For a more detailed packing list, especially for our multi-day whitewater rafting trips on the Salmon River please see our Packing List page.

Where do we meet to start our trip?

We meet our guests in the upper asphalt parking area of the Cleo Patterson Memorial Park in Riggins. This park is adjacent to highway 95 and the nearest cross street is Orchard St. Look for theSalmon River Riggins Idaho carved wooden sign with a bench. If you see it, then you are in the right spot.  To see a map with the meeting spot PLEASE CLICK HERE

What are the age/size restrictions?

We enjoy taking guests of all ages and abilities. It is important that our equipment accomodate each guest, and we ask that you contact us with any concerns you might have. We do not take children younger than 6-years of age without talking to the parents or guardian prior to the reservation. If our personal floatation devices do not fit properly, we cannot guarantee your safety and will not be able to take you on the trip.

Who is running the inflatable kayaking trips?

We have partnered up with Orange Torpedo Trips—the worlds original inflatable kayaking outfitter—to provide trips on the Salmon River.  If you sign up to do inflatable kayaking, you will be in an Orange Torpedo Trips custom-designed inflatable kayak and guided down the river by an Orange Torpedo Trips guide.  We run our trips together, so in terms of the experience it all runs as one trip—rafts or inflatable kayaks. But if you are in an IK, you will technically be an Orange Torpedo Trips customer.
